Friday 30th july
Thursday 29th july
Today i saw: Lofty Lou's- the most scrumptious yarn store.
i swear they make enough money to feed a small army off of what we come and buy every time we are up, but the yarn there simply cannot be beat.
and the old ladies who work there are just too kind {and talkative!}. i could make my bed in the back, and live there the rest of my life.
{i sent this one to my dearly loved mom, who usually ends up spotting my expensive 100% wool purchases...}

Tuesday 27th july
Today i saw: Sweetie Pies.
{mmmmm.}
my most favorite restaurant in placerville.
it's a rule that, when we are up north with nana and papa, there must be one morning where we visit Sweetie Pies and get olallieberry pie for breakfast.
it is officially the kids' favorite morning, hands down.
{sent to my nana}

Monday 26th july
Today i saw: rows and rows of citrus trees while driving up north.
that's about all you see for a while.
and i look forward to it every time.
while i am up north for the week, i am sending some of my postcards to tyler.
he was not able to adventure with me this time, so i am sending him my findings.

Sunday 25th july
Today i saw: a bridge covered in the prettiest trees and plants.
it, in fact, looked like a park above the freeway and i wanted really badly to stop and walk in it.
someday, i think i will try and find it again.
{sent to my cousin andrew, who said that i need to make all my postcards look like this, "none of the little one-cookie-sandwich-with-a-few-lines business" }

Saturday 24th july
Friday 23rd july
Today i saw: {or rather found} the best place to set up a tent.
at junior high camp the boys stay to one side of the campsite and girls stay to the other, and leaders are free to go wherever.
so we found the perfect creekside place where we could hear the water at night and listen to all the crickets and frogs.
this one is being sent to my dear friend Rebecca Young, who was with me on this particular adventure.

broken cameras and vacations.
but i have been keeping up.
i will post them when i get home, or when the camera decides to work again.
until then, something to think about
from the BFG,
'Is it ever occurring to you that a human bean who is fifty is spending about twenty years sleeping fast?'
'I must admit that never occurred to me, ' said Sophie.
'You should allow it to occur to you,' the BFG said. 'Imagine it please. This human bean who says he is fifty has been fast asleep for twenty years and is not even knowing where he is! Not even doing anything! Not even thinking!'
'It's a funny thought,' said Sophie.

Tuesday 20th july
Today i saw: stacks and stacks of books on a table in the library waiting to be checked out and taken to my house.
the library is one of my most favorite places.
even though it didn't have the books i was looking for, i came across Roald Dahl's "BFG", which is a good substitute.
'Words," he said, "is oh such a twitch-tickling problem to me all my life. So you must simply try to be patient and stop squibbling. As i am telling you before, I know exactly what words i am wanting to say, but somehow or other they is always getting squiff-squiddled around.'
'That happens to everyone,' Sophie said.
'Not like it happens to me,' the BFG said. 'I is speaking the most terrible wigglish.'
'I think you speak beautifully,' Sophie said."
{sent to garnett ford, who will soon be reading non-stop with me}

Monday 19th july
Today i saw: inconspicuous toadstools drawn on a sidewalk...
sent to brenna pierson, my dear friend who is far away from home right now.
i walked right by them the first time, they were so small.
but they deserved attention, i think, even though they weren't asking to be noticed.
{p.s. apologies for tininess of the picture, i am inept when it comes to fiddling with photos on the computer. the way it comes out from the camera is the way it must go on, for now.}

Sunday 18th july
Today i saw: a table covered in butcher paper-
i played tic-tac-toe while waiting for my bagel.
it reminded me of playing the games on the kid's coloring menu at Polly's Pies with my grandma when i was little. i think that if i ever were to open my own little cafe, i would most definitely cover the tables in butcher paper and pass out crayons.
{by the way, i sent this one to my grandma}

Saturday 17th july
Sent to marnie may in the beautiful Wisconsin, where one might see cyclists making the same fashion statement.
Today i saw: a bicycle man making a fashion statement in black stockings, powder blue shorts, and a green backpack. {like, glimmering, shiny, sheer, maybe women's stockings}
he was quite a looker.

i have officially written on these four and they are ready to send out in the mail tomorrow to my papa, natalie hollearn, robynne peterson, and annie rose logie.
eep!

Friday 16th july
Thursday 15th july: today i saw the largest rainbow known to man. it was a very hot and humid sort of rainbow, but beautiful nonetheless.
Friday 16th july: today i saw tyler make a bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich with mustard on a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel. i question his taste in food sometimes.

My year in postcards.
I have been inspired.
This lovely lady in London made a project of creating postcards and sending them to people all over the world. She did this for a year, and i have decided to follow suite.
I have made this a project to practice and improve my looking.
I am slowly learning the importance of, and finding worth in, seeing and recording everything from little and mundane things to fascinating places and people and happy moments.
For every day of my july 13th to july 13th year, i am going to make a postcard and send it off to someone. It shall be my small way of sending love and letting friends and family know i am thinking of them.

{Today i saw a store called Beard Papa's fresh and natural cream puffs}
